INTRODUCTION
You recently completed a questionnaire on-line and this is your personal report. The text which follows is based entirely on your answers and has been compared with a relevant reference group for accuracy.
We do hope you find this report useful when thinking about education, jobs and career. If you disagree with some of the text it’s worth thinking about whether you can think of occasions when you have behaved as suggested by the text. It may also be useful to show the report to somebody else whose opinion you respect in order to obtain somebody else’s opinion about its accuracy. Remember, the report is based upon your answers. However, if you still disagree with the text, disregard the sentence concerned.
PERSONAL STYLE PREFERENCES

It's worth evaluating this piece of the report in relation to what you may currently be doing or what you are seeking to do in order to ensure that there is a match. PERSONAL STYLE PREFERENCES
This section of the report describes your decision-making and management style and indicates the way you would prefer to work. It's worth evaluating this piece of the report in relation to what you may currently be doing or what you are seeking to do in order to ensure that there is a match. The more your preferred style matches the work you do the more success you are likely to be.
Your style is characterised as being intellectual and inventive in your dealings with others. Your inventive capacity and strong analytical skills suit you for any pursuit requiring the architecture of ideas.
It is your preference to design not to implement, thus it adds to your strength
to have others around you capable of following your ideas through to fruition.
You value intelligence in yourself and others, to such an extent that you can
become blinkered to the broader appreciation of people. You may experience a
tendency to become impatient with others who are intellectually weak. While
this can be a weakness, others may view it as arrogance; you do have the skill
to tune in to other people, and understand a lot about what makes them tick.
By paying more attention to people's emotional behaviour and responding accurately
to it, you can develop effective working relationships with most people.
You prefer not to work in a busy noisy atmosphere, at least, if you find yourself in such an environment, you will want to pull the door or draw the screens in order to concentrate. You are quite content working alone which gives you plenty of time for thinking and concentration. You are inclined to think things through well, checking the various possibilities before embarking on a choice of action. At the same time you are quite happy to leave things undecided if it suits your purposes, it is not necessary for you to be orderly and disciplined about your work, changes can be accommodated.
You like work that provides the opportunity to solve new problems, preferring not to do the same thing over and over again. By the same token you are impatient with routine, preferring to look at the general scheme of things, not the routine detail.
You are relatively unemotional in your behaviour towards others, preferring to think of your dealings with others from the point of view of fairness rather than harmony. You don't regard it as a prerequisite that people should be able to get along well at work.
Change is a phenomenon that you feel quite comfortable with, in fact you don't expect things to remain the same. You are capable of both initiating change and adapting to it.
Two risks you run are being so flexible that you fail to make a decision quickly enough and taking on so much work that you have difficulty completing everything.
Your strongest characteristic is your facility for generating ideas which is the key to successful occupational choice.

RELATIONSHIPS AT WORK
This section of the report is about your preferred relationship style with people at work and the way in which you will work as a member of the team. This is based purely upon your responses to the questionnaire and is designed to help you when considering your preferences for working in each of a large group, small group or individual context at work and how you will work in combination with other people, if you have seniority. This is important because, whether you succeed in a job role is partially dependent upon the nature of the relationships which you develop with others at work.
SOCIABILITY
The general approach you take with other people can be inferred from a large number of the items on the questionnaire. It is possible to summarise your social orientation as follows.
You are very attracted towards meeting and being with people most if not all of the time. At work you will prefer to make contacts with a large number of colleagues in groups as well as on a one to one basis. Your energy level increases with every contact you make. If there is little opportunity to make contact with people you will become anxious.
Confidence is in evidence. You will be comfortable about taking charge in social situations and making your views felt. You will hear what people are telling you and will react accordingly.
CONTACT WITH OTHERS AND MEMBERSHIP OF GROUPS
Our initial associations with others are affected by our preferences for contact and our willingness to be drawn into working groups. These concerns are often expressed in a more quantitative manner, for instance the number of people we telephone and the size of the group in which we feel comfortable. Your approach towards people is probably the following:-
You draw others to yourself much of the time. Others have to invite you into their working groups, and if they are slow to offer an invitation then you will seek them out yourself. You could be almost compulsive at times in your efforts to talk to people, and others may see you as interfering. You do involve yourself in issues which are outside your direct sphere of influence and will participate in verbal exchanges about broad organisational issues. Short term assignments and project work with opportunities for meeting a lot of people suit you well.
POWER AND RESPONSIVENESS
A second consideration after we have established ourselves within a group is the process of communication with its members. Sensitivity about who takes the initiative and the frequency of contact with the group are important issues. Your responses indicated your approach to such issues is as follows:-
You tend to display a need to take control, which may sometimes become compulsive, and may end up in your putting in too much effort and taking on too much responsibility for influencing others. A level is sometimes reached where you feel unable to carry sole responsibility and hope others will assist you.
OPENNESS AND SHYNESS
The third concern is the quality and depth of the one-to-one discussions which take place. Some aspects of the content of the communication and the openness you both show to and require from others are indicated below:-
You probably strive to create an image of warmth and intimacy. This includes a tinge of manipulation, since you do not want or expect others to reciprocate. You will work effectively in teams which are task oriented or where you are playing a significant role. You will be able to handle tough people decisions in your working group.
VALUES
This section profiles your employment values and is a measure of personal values associated with work and the working environment. Your results on this questionnaire are presented below.
INTERPRETATION OF YOUR PROFILE
Values may be defined as attitudes and preferences which are followed consistently. When a preference is valued highly it is given an important place in decision making.
A medium preference would indicate that your attitude may be determined by the context in which the behaviour occurs, or the people whom you are with at the time when it might be produced. It is not a consistent strength, nor a consistent weakness. However, it is unlikely you will excel in areas where this behaviour is a central requirement for success.
A below average preference will probably indicate that the value and its associated behaviour is rejected by you, and given little importance.
Below is presented a brief summary of the meaning of each of your results on the 14 dimensions evaluated by this questionnaire.
WORK ETHIC
This is a measure of the extent to which you value hard work, being conscientious and taking a pride in a job. It is a measure of an attitude which is highly predictive of work behaviour.
YOUR RESULT PREFERENCE: High.
You work hard at most things with which you are involved, and display a highly responsible approach. Work is important to you, and you may be in danger of sacrificing other activities in pursuit of work success. You will be concerned with task achievement, and not relax until success is yours.
SOCIABILITY
This scale examines the value you place upon friendships and being with other people, as well as seeking effective working relationships.
YOUR RESULT PREFERENCE: High.
You enjoy the company of others, and prefer harmony for your effective work performance. You may become uncertain if working alone for long periods, and probably find the warmth of others an important ingredient for your work success.
RISK TAKING
This is a measure of the risks you are prepared to take in your work and the excitement which you value as part of your work.
YOUR RESULT PREFERENCE: High.
You enjoy excitement in your work, and probably need adrenalin in order to perform effectively for long periods. You are very prepared to take on things that other people feel are too difficult, and this will be a characteristic of your work behaviour.
STABILITY
This is a measure of the extent to which you value orderliness and predictability in your work, as well security and stability.
YOUR RESULT PREFERENCE: High.
You are characterised by a predictable and orderly approach to most things that you undertake. You will be regarded as a reliable person with whom to work, and you will value this in other people very highly. If you find yourself in highly ambiguous situations, you will experience anxiety and doubt.
RESPONSIBILITY
This is a measure of the extent to which others will regard you as trusting and trustworthy, and someone who will readily accept responsibility. It is a general measure of your work reliability.
YOUR RESULT PREFERENCE: High.
Others will characterise you as trustworthy and reliable. You will be willing to accept responsibility without substantial recognition, because you believe that people should behave in a responsible manner. This will be a characteristic of your behaviour.
NEED TO ACHIEVE
This is a measure of the extent to which you value success and achievement, and will consistently set your sights high.
YOUR RESULT PREFERENCE: High.
You are somebody who continually strives for success, and who revises the goal once the success has been achieved. It is difficult to satisfy you, and you set tough standards for both yourself and others in your work. You are seen by others as successful, and value this highly.
TASK ORIENTATION
This is a measure of the value you place upon finishing what you begin, and the extent to which you insist on the achievement of objectives. Your concern with schedules is also evaluated by this part of the questionnaire.
YOUR RESULT PREFERENCE: High.
You work hard to complete things once agreed upon, and are regarded by others as achieving objectives reliably. You will work hard to observe deadlines, and will require the same of your colleagues. You are likely to sacrifice the comfort of a group in pursuit of the achievement of the task.
LEADERSHIP
This is a measure of the extent to which you value being in charge of others and displaying leadership. This will include the occasional dominance of groups, and the provision of direction to others.
YOUR RESULT PREFERENCE: High.
You value being in charge, and probably find yourself in such a position in many areas of activity. Some who may resist you may say that you are dominant, although you would maintain that you try to provide direction for others. You easily take on leadership tasks and enjoy these.
DEVELOPMENT
This is a measure of the extent to which you value the acquisition of new skills and understanding, and value long term prospects in your work.
YOUR RESULT PREFERENCE: High.
Your work will be characterised by being longer term and probably strategic in its approach. You will value the acquisition of understanding highly, and encourage this quality in others. For you learning never ceases, and it may be hard for others to understand the value you place upon it at times. It is unlikely, therefore that you would flourish for long in work roles which involve a very short term approach.
INNOVATION
This is a measure of the extent to which you value creativity and novelty in your work, and are keen to experiment with new possibilities and ideas.
YOUR RESULT PREFERENCE: High.
You enjoy the idea of ideas, and are probably reluctant to do the same thing twice. For you experimentation is a source of pleasure, and you may cause frustration to some of the more pragmatic of those around you. Routine may frustrate you.
INTELLECTUAL DEMANDS
This is a measure of the extent to which you value intellectual pursuits, originality and the application of logic and analysis to tasks. There may be an apparent conflict in the text you receive in this section and that provided in the "Innovation" section. If this is the case, your behaviour will be determined by the specific situation in which you find yourself, and it will vary.
YOUR RESULT PREFERENCE: High.
You are probably intellectual in your approach to issues, and value logic and analysis highly. Others will recognise the originality of your approach to topics, and enjoy the exchanges involved in intellectual debate with you. For you it is important to find work which challenges you intellectually.
STATUS
This is a measure of the extent to which you value the achievement of respect and position in an organisation, and the acknowledgement by others of your status.
YOUR RESULT PREFERENCE: High.
You value the visible status afforded by success. For you title and position are important, since they form part of the basis of the respect others may show you. You value this, both for yourself and others, and will work hard to achieve it.
STRUCTURE
This dimension evaluates the extent to which you value clarity of expectation, and try to provide this to others as well as wishing it for yourself. It also examines the need you have for structure and organisation in work.
YOUR RESULT PREFERENCE: High.
You clearly value structure and clarity of expectation considerably. They are probably necessary requirements for you to work effectively, and it seems likely that you will work hard to obtain clarity from others and to provide it to others. If you do not know the environment in which you are expected to work, or the protocols, you may experience anxiety and uncertainty.
INCLUSION
This is a measure of the extent to which you wish to work as part of a closeknit and harmonious team, and to receive the support of others.
YOUR RESULT PREFERENCE: High.
You very much enjoy working as a member of a team, and value the support of others for your effective performance. You will be recognised as somewhat of a joiner in groups in which you participate, and will enjoy working with a group because of the mutual support which it provides. Solitary work for long periods would be unlikely to suit you.
PERSONALITY SUMMARY
What follows is an overall summary of your personality.
Your work will be characterised by a thoughtful, analytic and logical approach. You will try to reach objective judgements about what will occur and your work will be based upon a strong belief in fairness and clarity. You will be decisive in your work approach, although you will share important decisions with key colleagues. In some ways, your adaptability means that you could display the capacity to work on long and short-range projects as well as working alone for periods as well as in groups. However, you will probably prefer to work in contact with other colleagues, not because you want to control them but because you value shared tasks, so long as each person has clear responsibility. Goal achievement is what motivates you, as well as adherence to the organisation's values. It may be that your organisational skills are likely to cause you to want to challenge the existing order when it seems inappropriate for the task and you may treat those above you and below you in a similar way, expecting all of them to be willing to challenge the hierarchy when that is appropriate. You may sometimes take on too many projects and be overwhelmed with detail, which will not necessarily be your strong point. Do take care to share those kinds of issues with trusted colleagues in order to ensure they do not cause delays or deteriorations in the quality of work you deliver. Use your logic and powers of analysis to clarify when this is occurring.
You tend to want to be with others most of the time. You are not uncomfortable when alone, although you probably do not choose to be alone for much of the time. You may socialise easily and enjoyably. At work it is likely that you will have frequent meetings and may occasionally neglect administrative work. You can take on large amounts of responsibility, but need others to acknowledge that you are doing so. You will willingly work long and hard, and will play hard too, in order to compensate. You tend to be very selective about those with whom you become emotionally involved. You will present an image of being warm and friendly with everyone you meet, but a more accurate view is that you are friendly with everyone and intimate with only a select few.Your high drive is likely to eclipse most things in pursuit of work achievement. You are likely to work long and hard to achieve results and your achievement drive will be a particular strength. There may be times when your achievement drive is so strongly developed in relation to a particular task, that you will be in a continual rush to produce visible and effective results. You are likely to go the extra mile without a second thought in order to complete something and there may be times when what you do and what you produce take second place to how it is done. Others may see you as an example of hard work and follow through. There may be times when you receive feedback to the effect that your work ethic eclipses your other interests and that you may put work before pleasure.
Your sociability is likely to cause others to turn to you for advice and you rarely feel a need for solitude at work. You will value being involved in key activities and be keen to be involved with others in their work together. You will probably be seen as sociable and may sometimes be the 'life and soul of the party.'
You are likely to regard work as a priority but may not be concerned about achieving personal prominence in your activities. You may be more a team player than team leader much of the time and will only be concerned about leadership when you have a particular expertise or believe there is a particular issue that requires resolution and you may be the right person to achieve that. It is unlikely your drive is to achieve prominence and there may be times when you can see some priorities as much less important than others and leave those to some extent to one side. You are able to enjoy work as well as take it seriously.
You probably value opportunities for innovation and complexity is seen as a challenge. Risks will not trouble you so long as you have the potential for evidence of progress from time to time. You may be patient with complexity.
You are likely to value an element of structural predictability in your work activity and recognition for the status which you have achieved. You will provide clear structure and organisation to those around you and will work hard to maintain continuity. Continued change and ambiguity may unsettle you and you may be more a manager for stability than change.
You are likely to take a long-term view of yours and your colleagues' careers and value training and development for its own sake and your belief that it helps to maintain people in a sharp and alert condition. You will probably take care to develop plans for your career and that of your colleagues as a priority alongside other work tasks. It is likely that your attention to training and development is a strength.
With respect to career development you display a strong preference for working with a relatively small number of tasks which have a medium or long term time horizon. You seem to prefer to persevere with complex tasks and do not need immediate feedback in order to continue your efforts. This capability will suit you for strategic tasks and those involving considerable planning which leads to action. Although you may well need tangible feedback about you performance as the work progresses, you do not appear to need instant results in order to be motivated at work. And this suits you for many kinds of work activity including, planning, project management and work generally, where you have significant discretion over how time is organised and spent.
Your work values suggest a strong wish to achieve results and the likelihood that work is a serious process for you. You value work and derive satisfaction from a tough job well completed; take care to ensure your work provides you with such opportunities. Try not to become too intense with your work approach and push people to deliver results, since they might not share the same commitment as you do to the production of successful conclusions.
You probably prefer work which is well structured and where you have some idea about what 'tomorrow is going to bring'. Uncertain and confusing situations may unsettle you and could distract you from your key objectives. You probably enjoy having clear and well-focused goals to work towards with a clear schedule of resources and reviews. Prolonged ambiguity about your job security and your position in the organisation may unsettle you and you will probably value the appreciation of others for your efforts.
You probably value work with others and may be uncomfortable if asked to undertake a task which involves prolonged solitary activity. The social side of work may be very important to you and you may need to guard against so much mixing with others that your work targets suffer. You probably invest quite a bit of your social life in your work and you should therefore practise working in well-organised teams where people meet periodically to review work which they have undertaken individually. This will help you to develop the discipline of undertaking individual work and will guard against your enjoyment of the company of others occasionally threatening your productivity.
Finally, you appear able to suggest initiatives as well as respond to those of others. This means that you may be an effective team player because you can evaluate others ideas without wishing to impose your own agendas, and you can also take initiatives comfortably, without fear of ridicule by team members. Your flexibility would benefit from maintenance by the completion of project work in collaboration with teams of others. This is a quality to keep developing.
In general, take care to be organised and try to avoid being impatient with people who have a lack of imagination. Try to avoid doing things differently because this is more interesting and take care to communicate clearly what your priorities are to your colleagues. Try to be patient with people who are a little bureaucratic. In general, take care to organise yourself carefully, avoid being critical of others and allow more time to talk with people.
FUNDAMENTAL TRAITS
There is broad agreement that there are the small number of basic dimensions of personality (called traits) from which most behaviours are derived. These traits have been called the ' big five'. These are described below and give a description of your basic preferences for approaching working with, and influencing, events, issues and people at work.
OPENNESS TO NEW EXPERIENCE
You will normally, although not always, be comfortable in novel and untried situations and when having experiences which are not necessarily traditional or always familiar. High levels of uncertainty will unsettle and you may turn to someone for reassurance. This is a medium level result.
CONSCIENTIOUSNESS
Your responses indicate that you will generally be reliable and well organised, taking care to produce what has been agreed on schedule and to budget. Others are likely to rely on you most of the time. This may only slip occasionally when you are under extreme pressure. This is a strong result.
EXTROVERSION
Your responses indicate that you are sociable, friendly, fun-loving and talkative. You probably do not shy away from many social situations and enjoy your involvement with other people. There may even be times when you enjoy being involved with others to the relative exclusion of your work activity.
AGREEABLENESS
You will be good natured and courteous to others, although you are capable of being critical and judgemental if you disagree with what is occurring. In this respect you may occasionally fail to raise queries quickly enough or you may intervene very fast. This depends upon what else is going on at the same time. This capacity to step back from the group and be critical is very valuable, although you may need to sometimes temper the way in which you intervene. This is a medium result.
NERVOUSNESS
You probably prefer a relatively high level of definition and structure in your work activity and may be unsettled by significant change. Therefore, it is wise if you seek out work and career direction with allows you to understand clearly others' expectations of you and also to know when you have achieved effective results.
WORK DISPOSITION
This section of the report is based upon the Fundamental Traits section and provides a description of your preferences in a more detailed way and will provide key indications of the kind of work environment and activity which will appeal to you. Remember, you are not likely to be strongly oriented towards all of the 10 areas described below. In fact, the descriptions link together in pairs, starting from the top. Therefore, you are likely to have a preference for one of each of the five pairs.
CURIOSITY
You find experimentation very interesting and there are times when this takes priority over producing a result or completing a task.
CONVENTIONALITY
In general, you will seek practical results, being content to produce successful outcomes. It is unlikely that you will be distracted by novelty or the appeal of doing something differently for its own sake.
ORGANISATION
In general, you will display the capacity to control events, issues and people around you in order to produce the results to which you have committed. You will only occasionally become distracted or allow others to control what occurs.
SPONTANEITY
You are likely to respond quickly and directly to perceived need, although you will probably also temper your response with the pressures of existing priorities. This is a strength.
SOCIABILITY
This will be a strength of yours and you will temper the extent to which you undertake this in the light of your own work priorities. Your communications will be fluent and will be easily understood.
PRIVATENESS
You do not boundary your work very clearly and will allow others to become involved without resistance. You respond enthusiastically to requests from others.
CRITICAL
You are likely to be decisive about what you need to do and you then pursue this, allowing few distractions. You are open to the ideas of your close and trusted colleagues, but these will be relatively few.
SYMPATHETIC
You are likely to be interested in other people's points of view and will take the needs of the wider organisation into account when making a decision. However, you are selective and can reject others' points of view at times, asserting your priorities over them.
TENSE
You are likely to prefer to work to clear goals and objectives and to use formal channels of communication when working with others. This may occasionally cause slight conflict at work.
CALM
Your drive can be slightly affected by pressure around you, and your confidence may be diminished by consistent criticism over time. However, these qualities will be recognised by others much of the time.
WORK COMPETENCIES
Presented here are your 10 highest and 10 lowest scoring work competencies, based upon the 130 competencies within our directory. Taken together, these are intended to provide an indication of the kind of work activity and career direction which may be suitable and in which you may be successful.

| HUMILITY | Has difficulty accepting own shortfalls, preferring not to admit to mistakes. May not see value in learning from mistakes. |
| IMPARTIAL | Has difficulty keeping an open mind. Often lets their personal opinions and views influence decisions. |
| PROFESSIONALISM | Tries to handle issues responsibly, but sometimes with a lack of concern for others and is less aware of conflicts of interest. |
| DETAIL CONSCIOUS | Less attracted to work which involves the accurate handling of administrative matters than to practical issues. |

| FAIRNESS | They tend to live for the present and do not plan far ahead, placing reasonable expectations on both others and themselves. They can relax and enjoy themselves, living for the moment when they trust those who are around them. |
| RETICENT | They are positive and confident in initiating contact with others which is an asset for their future career. |
| DETACHMENT | Their involvement with others will be a major feature of their work activity and they may fail to display detachment at times when their work would otherwise benefit. Takes care not to become too involved with other people over their issues, since this could subtract from their effectiveness with respect to their own. |
| SALES ORIENTATION | They are not naturally sales oriented and although they may value business relationships will only do so when they are to mutual advantage. Therefore, sales for their own sake do not particularly interest them. |
